The Cerebral Malaria Mortality

Without treatment, Cerebral Malaria (CM) is nearly 100% fatal. Mortality is decreased by effective antimalarials but remains unacceptably high, at 15%–20%. The WHO defines CM as an unarousable state (Glasgow coma score <11 in adults or a Blantyre coma score <3).

CM is responsible for almost half of the mortalities from Severe Malaria.
